Miami’s First Medical Marijuana Dispensary Is Now Open

Miami Dispensary

While Florida lawmakers continue to anger the state’s residents by not honoring Amendment 2, Miami’s first legal dispensary has opened. This week, commissioners will vote to potentially allow three more dispensaries in the Miami Beach area. Trulieve is open and is operating in compliance with the rules set forth in 2014 and 2015.

Trulieve is offering tinctures/oils, vaporizers and capsules to Florida medical marijuana patients, Miami New Times reports. Lawmakers are still hashing out the rules that will be concrete. Until then, Trulieve will offer patients what it is allowed to under the rules that were previously set forth.

Kim Rivers, spokesperson for Trulieve, said, “We have been delivering to the Miami area since July, but we’re very excited to have a brick-and-mortar storefront so patients can avoid delivery fees.”

A meeting scheduled for April 26 will determine where and how many dispensaries will be permitted in the Miami Beach area. So far, it’s looking like three will be permitted. Once locations are determined, it is expected that competition will be pretty stiff.

Rivers said, “We would love to be in Miami Beach as well. We’re looking at multiple locations all over South Florida.”
