Florida Finally Sending Medical Marijuana Cards to Qualifying Patients

Approved medical marijuana patients in Florida should begin receiving their cards any day now. The Office of Compassionate Use has started processing the cards for distribution to patients. The number of cards processed daily has not been disclosed.

The rule requiring a medical marijuana card in Florida took effect on February 19, according to WPTV 5 News. Patients with terminal illnesses, cancer, epilepsy, seizures and chronic muscle spasms are likely to qualify for the program. You must be a resident of Florida to qualify for a medical marijuana card.

  • HIV/AIDS
  • Glaucoma
  • PTSD
  • ALS
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • MS

The State of Florida expects to be able to accept applications for medical marijuana online soon. The state is in the process of updating its website to allow for online submissions. A date for the rollout of online applications is not yet available.
