Florida Awards Another Medical Marijuana Cultivation License

FL Marijuana Cultivation

Florida’s medical marijuana industry is expected to boom, so to keep up with anticipated demand, the state decided to provide licensing to another cultivation company, McCrory’s Sunny Hill Nursery.

McCrory’s, who will be known as GrowHealthy, purchased a 180,000 sq. ft. facility in partnership with three additional nurseries for their grow operation, according to WUFT.

One unique benefit for patients in Florida is that doctors are permitted to recommend medical marijuana for patients who have conditions that are not on Florida’s qualifying conditions list. The recommendation must be substantiated by a proper diagnosis.

Florida expects 500,000 medical marijuana patients; however, that number may be understated. Additional growers will be needed to keep up with demand. One grower’s company said that their company can provide an ample supply of medical marijuana for 650,000 patients.

Department of Health spokeswoman Sarah Revell said, “The department remains committed to ensuring a regulatory structure that best serves the people of Florida. The department will continue to work with all licensed dispensing organizations to deliver product to patients as quickly and safely as possible.”
