Poll Finds That 70% of Floridians Support Medical Marijuana Initiative

FL Medical Marijuana Legalization Ballot Initiative

Polls leading up to the November vote to legalize medical marijuana in Florida shows that 70 percent of voters support the initiative. This is up 5 percent from polls conducted in March.

The Department of Health would regulate and register dispensaries and production facilities, according to Florida Politics. The Department of Health will also issue medical marijuana identification cards to both patients and caregivers.

Those wishing to obtain a Florida medical marijuana card have to receive a recommendation by a licensed Florida marijuana doctor.

The list of qualifying conditions, should the initiative pass, is still being worked on.

The conditions included so far are:

  • Cancer
  • PTSD
  • Glaucoma
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Epilepsy

The Democratic voters in Florida show 81 percent support. Independent voters show 70 percent support. Republican voters show 55 percent support. Florida requires that measures pass by a margin of 60 percent in favor, which by these recent poll numbers, should easily be surpassed in November.
