Florida’s First Medical Marijuana Crop Harvested Successfully

FL Marijuana Use

Florida’s first medical marijuana harvest is complete and has been packaged and frozen for preservation in large, 441-gram packages that are vacuum packed for protection.

Surterra Therapeutics is part medical marijuana cultivation company, part pharmaceutical company, and is responsible for Florida’s first medical marijuana harvest, according to News-Press.

Surterra medical director, Dr. Joseph Dorn said, “It’s a very exciting place to be in the medical field in Florida right now, because this is not just a new medication we’re talking about. This is a mindset transformation in the treatment of patients, probably tens of thousands of patients whose symptoms are not completely relieved right now.”

In regards to their product, Surterra company president Susan Driscoll said, “Surterra’s key thing is producing a consistent, high-quality, safe product. It’s for people who are sick.”

Driscoll also reiterated that the THC levels in these strains are very low and do not promote the feeling of being “high.”

Cancer patient Matthew Hunter said marijuana “has some benefits during the chemotherapy process…”

Patients with chronic pain disorders are disappointed that most will not qualify under the current Florida guidelines. Pain management specialist Dr. Paul Arnold said, “It’s coming down the path of things available to a physician to treat pain, uncontrollable seizures. And apparently it’s effective. So, I wanted to be able to do it, of course.”
