A new study found that teen marijuana use doesn’t cause their bad behavior.
Researchers found no evidence supporting marijuana use instigating inappropriate behavior, Forbes reported.
“Concerns about marijuana leading to all kinds of other behavioral problems don’t seem to be supported,” said Study co-author Dan Romer. “We found no relationship between using marijuana and seeking out peers who use marijuana, and no relationship with conduct problems.”
It’s been speculated in recent decades that teen marijuana use leads to bad behavior. This study found the opposite.
The study also noted that “bad kids” displayed behavioral issues before using marijuana. According to the researchers, the kids already displaying bad behavior might use marijuana because of their attraction to “rebellious behavior.” Romer suggests that some may also be self-medicating to deal with family difficulties.
